Updated the Firefox Extension to work with the new Firefox 3. It still works in 2 as well. Enjoy.

The Firefox Extension is back online! Try it out. Let me know if there are any problems. It should actually work better than before, with fewer occurrences of ‘could not parse’ errors.

Added a brand new section to the site today, the Magic Product Codes page! You can find it under the Info menu. This page is an extension of a project originally started years ago by the Magic Library to catalog all the various product codes, ISBNs, logos, etc of every Magic related product ever released! It is a HUGE undertaking which anyone can contribute to. The fruits of this project are now mirrored here with a slick new layout.

New codes are always needed anytime a new product is released. Additionally information for many of the sets, especially non-english, from the last four years is currently missing. If you have this information please feel free to post it here or on the Magic Library.

The better news, for all you developer types, is I have also created an XSLT API for this information which allows other websites to use and display this data any way they want! Basic documentation is coming, but has not been posted yet. If you are a web developer and are interested in hooking into this info on your site, please contact me.

Made a nice visual update to the Checklist Generator today to make it look like all the other lists. It’s more readable and more pleasant to cut and paste to other places.

A sadly neglected feature of this site is the Vintage Ad Gallery which has remained basically unchanged since I first put it up six years ago. Well today I took a little time to breathe some life into it by adding 20 new ads! Everyone is encouraged to contribute to this gallery. If you have some old ads that aren’t there please contact me through the contact link on the gallery page.

After weeks of performance issues, Apathy House has upgraded its services! Over the past several weeks the site had gradually gotten worse and worse until it was almost impossible to use some of the most popular tools. This was due mostly to the overwhelming popularity of the Trade Evaluator, which had performed over 700,000 searches in just that last year (compared to 1 million in all previous years combined)!

In the midst of all this, I was also working on several improvements to the site already, which I have now been forced to share with you all a little earlier than expected. There have been several changes, both major and minor and several more are on the way. Here’s some you’ll notice immediately:

  1. The Trade Evaluator should be working smoothly again! At times it can still be slow, but it’ll get there in the end
  2. A new login info bar at the top of the screen will tell you whether you are logged in or not as well as some other interesting information
  3. The forum has been removed completely. Let’s face it, there are plenty of other Magic related forums on the Internet already. The only real impact this will have on this site is…
  4. Registration has been disabled. This is temporary while I sort out some technical details of user migration. Registration however IS enabled through the new invite system, should you happen to have any. In the meantime, if someone you know is looking to register here drop me a message.
  5. The URLs have changed. No more of this /mtg/ business. Old bookmarks should forward appropriately to the new one, but please update your bookmarks anyway.

Over the next few months updates and improvments to the site will continue. New features, more content and better performance all around are on the horizon. Details will be posted here more regularly to keep everyone up to date. If you have any suggestions just send a note!

Thanks to everyone for your continued support of this site. If you are already a registered user, then you are automatically part of my elite Beta Testers pool for future tools and tricks.
